BUILDING FEATURES:
Our truss arch buildings feature our unique jet stream climate control system that will always give you a favorable climate within the building. Even buildings filled with livestock still have very acceptable air quality in both the summer and winter.
A jet stream is created by air flowing in the sides of the building. Air is propelled toward the peak of the building, hits the deflector panel, is mixed from both sides and ejected out each end. Air is stacked and velocity is created by compressing the air flow from 6 inches (15.2 cm) down to about 2 1/2’’ (6.4 cm). Summer ventilation is assisted by air movement through the ends as well.
Our buildings are supported by a network of steel rafters, purlins, and cables. Our wide buildings use welded and bolted construction for increased strength and stability. Engineered cable bracing ties the rafters together.
Our single arch ultra series 24, 30, and 35 foot buildings have cables run through each set of purlins to hold the structure together. They are assembled with zinc-plated connectors and base plates.
Our truss arch buildings have some of the narrowest base plates in the industry. They are designed with usability and safety in mind. With our base plates, you get more usable cube for the same width. Their lower profile also helps protect against tire damage and personal injury. We use an engineered network of cables to brace the entire building, rated to withstand wind loads of up to 90 MPH. Our buildings are arched so the entire truss is used to create tension on the canvas surface, keeping it secure and causing it to wear uniformly. Our standard engineered buildings are rated to support up to 40 lbs of live roof snow load, and can be custom manufactured for the heaviest snow loads in North America.
To achieve our superior engineering design on wide buildings, all base plates and X-braces are welded. We then hot dip galvanize the entire trus, inside and out, to provide the joints with the best protection possible. Hot dip galvanizing is “proven to perform in use, without maintenance, for approximately three times longer than in-line produced zinc coating” (American Galvanizing Association). GatorShield® is also used on our smaller buildings (24, 30, and 35 foot shelters). This enables our tubular steel to pass more than 2000 hours of salt spray testing.
The fabric coverings on our buildings are made from PVC, and sewn by people with over 25 years of experience in fine sewing craftsmanship. Our seams are double-stitched with high-strength bonded polyester webbing. The covers can withstand up to 90 mile per hour wind loads.
For cover tie-downs, our smaller (24, 30, and 35 ft. wide) ultra series buildings have zinc plated D-rings attached with webbing and PVC belting. These, combined with a rope tie-down system, provide a neat, tight, secure installation, stretching the canvas over the rafters but keeps it away from the purlins. Rope hems add strength and stability. Our wide truss arch buildings use piped hems and 5-ton lashing winches to make the covering tight, secure, and reliable.
We use twelve ounce per square yard material constructed of high density scrim, overlapped for superior strength, flatness and tear properties. A 2.5 mil coating is applied to each side for abrasion and pressure resistance and for seam integrity. Our fabric is UV-inhibited to minimize sunlight damage.
Our buildings can be equipped with various doors to allow a balance between ease of access and control of environment. From cable winch fabric roll-up doors, steel rollup or single entry doors, to completely open fronts, our buildings can provide the access you need. A variety of vents are available for the ends and rooflines of our buildings, including slits, louvers, powered fans, rollup sides or dairy curtains. Good ventilation at the ends of the building enhances the jet stream, enabling the building to have a more controlled climate.
